Childrens Book Publishers
Children's book publishers are always on the lookout for the next classic children's book. A good children's book has a very long life, as generations of parents read to their children the books they themselves loved. Goodnight Moon, by Margaret Wise Brown, has been soothing children to sleep since 1947. Munro Leaf wrote his classic story of Ferdinand, the bull who preferred smelling flowers to participating in bullfights, in 1936. Winnie the Pooh has been around since 1926. What children's book will appear in the next few years that will last for decades? It might be specifically a bedtime book. Robinson's classic lulls young children with reassuring rhythms and rituals, while Maurice Sendak's Where the Wild Things Are and In the Night Kitchen address the wish of slightly older children to continue the day's adventures into the night. Since the bedtime story is the single most frequent reading opportunity for most parents, bedtime books are always sought after. Once a child is old enough for story books and then chapter books, character is everything. Pooh endures because he's so endearing, and because secondary characters such as Tigger, Eeyore, and Roo are so clearly drawn. Beverly Cleary's Ramona and Judy Blume's Fudge have supported extensive series because kids can identify with them and their problems and triumphs. Bouncing Ball Books is always looking for original, well written children's books. We are a small, eclectic publishing house and we truly respect the writer's voice.
