Bouncing Ball Books has a new distributor - Music, Books & Business (MB&B). MB&B at www.musicbooksbusiness.com is a wholesale distributor of music and book products to all major chain stores such as Borders, Barnes & Noble, Books-A-Million plus major wholesalers like Ingram, Baker & Taylor, Anderson, Handleman, Select-O-Hits, Central South, Amazon and many others. MB&B also has an international branch that will market Bouncing Ball Books titles specifically in the United Kingdom and Africa.
The professional and personal working relationship that MB&B quickly established with Bouncing Ball Books was the deciding factor when it came to signing with a new distributor. After BookWorld Companies closed without informing the many publishers under contract, Bouncing Ball Books was left without a distributor.
The best selling titles, What Bird?, Ick the Stick, Storm Tunes, and The Quarterback’s Demons, were backordering on Amazon.com and Barnes & Nobles with no way to order the titles. Baker & Taylor quickly stepped up to fulfill the backorders.
But when Julie Bobikevich, National Sales Manager for MB&B, approached the Bouncing Ball Books booth at the Miami Book Fair International in November 2007, introduced herself, and pitched her company to Becky Salichova, the Senior Editor at Bouncing Ball Books, the two literary and business minded women began to realize a relationship that was exactly what each company was looking for.
Julie explained MB&B’s philosophy of handling a few small publishers with high quality products very well as opposed to a common business tactic of “more is better.” The idea of treating clients with tender-loving-care rang true with Becky as she explained the Bouncing Ball Books philosophy to publish only a few books each year in a very high quality and to treat each author, illustrator, editor, and graphic artist as family.
