Bouncing Ball Authors

Miami Book Fair International November 9 –11, 2007

BBB Fairgoers found Bouncing Ball Books at the same booth location between the Children’s Alley and the International Village as last year as they featured their 6 new releases for 2007. With a total of 16 titles, Bouncing Ball Books had a lot of fun at the Miami Book Fair International in their 2nd year as Florida’s growing small publisher.

Four of the new titles are young/adult reader chapter books. Bouncing Ball Books prides itself in presenting an international flare. The Adventures of Nihu written by Ruyi Uwuigiaren,a successful children’s author in Lago, Nigeria, Africa is a chapter book about a young boy who is falsely accused of a crime and banished to The Lonely Forest. Another new international author is Peter Lancaster Walker, a popular playwright in the United Kingdom, who writes from his home in Leicestershire, England. Space Travelers Land At Buckingham Palace follows the humorous adventures of space traveling aliens who look exactly like Earth children and consequently enjoy visiting Earth for holiday. The Diplomat’s Daughter takes place in Pakistan and is based upon the real life diary and memories of a United States diplomat’s daughter, Victoria Montes, as she reveals the events that surrounded her at the time of the burning of the United States Embassy in 1979. Running Deer, a young Native American Indian brave, has the ability to talk to the forest animals. Author Stepahnie LeMonde’ catches the Native American spirit in her delightful coming-of-age story The Misty Forest.

BBB Adult readers where delighted to meet C.K. Laurence at the Bouncing Ball Books booth on all three days. C.K.’s intriguing murder mystery set in steamy South Beach, Miami, attracted attention from both mystery readers looking for the next best-selling mystery writer and tourists who wanted to get to know the “real” South Beach. C.K. premiers her web site www.miamidemons.com with the release of her mystery novel that sold out at the fair. “We did not bring enough boxes of The Quarterback’s Demons,” -buisiness manager Denek Salich said.

The winner of the Tampa Writers Alliance Short Story Contest 2007, Ticket To The Moon written by Dr. Uthaya Kumar, was published by Bouncing Ball Books and released at the fair. This sensitive and sweet based-on-true-life story of Dr. Kumar’s experiences as he grew up in rural South India captures the heart as well as the mind as he shows how people from all social economic and cultural groups embrace compassion and intelligence as they walk through their brand of life on Earth.

The most fun part of the Miami Book Fair International 2007 was the appearance of Princess Sara and Capitano Ricco. Rebecca Bell’s two children’s picture book titles by these names are hand written and illustrated by Florida’s own home-grown author. The Princess and the Captain posed with with the children fair-goers for free email photos. Capitano Ricco gave out free bouncingbsuper balls to the boys who stopped by the booth and Princess Sara gave out free magic wands to the girls.
