Read Aloud Stories
Settling down with your child to read a story is one of the most satisfying moments in a parent's life. Even the squirmiest, most energetic toddler will allow a cuddle when he or she is fascinated by a story. Grandparents, too, enjoy the opportunity for closeness that reading aloud to their grandchildren can bring, and the memories that are created last a lifetime for everyone involved. The appropriate time for reading aloud to your children is much broader than you might suppose. Experts suggest that looking at a picture book with a baby will begin the process of teaching him to love reading. As you hold him in your lap and point to the pictures, he'll think of books in conjunction with your comforting voice and presence. Experts also recommend that you continue reading to your child at least until the age of ten. Beginning readers will enjoy taking turns, and even after the child can read well unassisted, the comfort of being read to--and having that time of closeness--remains valuable. It's also a good idea to have your child read books herself at her own reading level, while you can read to her from something slightly beyond her reach. At Bouncing Ball Books, we are committed to bringing you high-quality stories for reading aloud and for beginning readers. Our popular Sharp-Eye series will soon comprise eight books. Princess Sara and Capitano Ricco also have a devoted following, and more story books will be coming soon. Visit our site often to see what's new!
